Brief History….
Glastonbury Festival began in 1970 as the Pilton Pop, Folk & Blues Festival, hosted by dairy farmer Michael Eavis at Worthy Farm in Somerset. Inspired by the counterculture of the 1960s and the Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music, the first event drew 1,500 people.. In 1971, it was renamed Glastonbury Fayre, moved to coincide with the summer solstice, and introduced the now-iconic Pyramid Stage, inspired by the Great Pyramid of Giza and aligned with local ley lines. Over the decades, Glastonbury grew into a massive, multi-day event, attracting over 200,000 attendees, hosting legendary artists, and becoming a cornerstone of British cultural life.
As with any British event, the enigmatic UK weather always plays its part, and the media love a good picture of mud-covered people sliding through the Glastonbury fields.
After the post-pandemic staycation glamping boom, people now expect the very best when it comes to camping experiences, so the musical market had to respond…..
